Which Nail Varnish Is Non-Toxic and Healthy?

Do you like pretty nails but conscious of the chemical, toxic load contained in a bottle of nail polish? If you are looking for a healthier, more environmentally friendly natural approach then there are now some really good plant based, vegan and non-animal cruelty products to choose from. These  will be kinder to your nails and your wellbeing. Nail polishes are known to be flammable and toxic and have a substantial amount of chemicals which can be detrimental to our health and the environment. Nail polish remover often contains Acetone which is also used as paint stripper, so it’s strong! It is very drying on the nails. The gel nail polish is also popular but does tend to damage the nails and is difficult to remove.

I recently discovered a great brand called Green by Manucurist. It is 84% plant based and made of potato, corn, cassava, and cotton. It works effectively,  has a good brush for easy application and a creamy yet glossy finish, which lasted well. They also do a natural gel varnish too, but I haven’t tried this one yet. You will need a LED lamp for that one. I have tried the green flash nail polish remover which is 97% bio-sourced from sugar cane and Ricinus seed. It is a great product. It also removes the gel version without damaging the nails.

As I worked in the beauty industry for thirty years with prestigious brands, I know a decent product with a professional finish when I find one and wanted to share it with you. A green credential is of upmost importance too. The candles, wax melts and soaps that I make are vegan, mainly organic, animal cruelty free, and free from parabens SLS, fragrance and colours. I use minimal packaging that can be recycled.
